As you may be aware, there is a proposed wind farm and transmission line that have begun the permitting process near Dodge Center. The transmission line will begin southwest of Dodge Center and end just west of Byron. As part of this process, the applicant is required to study multiple routes for the transmission line to determine the best route for the project. As such, two of the four possible routes for the transmission line are being shown south of US Highway 14 and two of the possible routes are being shown through the City of Dodge Center.
At this time, the Public Utilities Commission has not decided on which route should be used and studies are taking place on all possible routes and their potential effects on humans and the environment. Accordingly to a letter the City received, there will be public hearings in the future so that comment can be taken. These public hearings will be led by the Public Utilities Commission since they are the reviewing agency and the City does plan on attending these hearings to voice the opinion of the City. At this time, the times and dates of the public hearings have not been released but when the City finds out more information, we will post it here.
If you would like to provide a statement on the possible routes or have any questions, please contact the Public Utilities Commission (firstname.lastname@example.org or 651.201.2251).
